Interesting Information You Don't Care About
A few years ago I had two strange episodes with my eyes where I experienced about 20-30 minutes when I couldn't see. All I could see was a series of flashing lights that got progressively worse until I could hardly see at all. After the second time this happened I decided to go to the eye doctor because it scared the ever-living crap out of me. All I wanted to know from the doctor at the time were two things: 1. That my vision was perfectly healthy 2. That my head was perfectly healthy and I didn't have some weird tumor.
I am not an eye person. I hate anything to do with anyone's eyes. I can't watch bad things happen to peoples eyes, even watching someone put contacts in freaks me out and makes my eyes water. Yeah - that scene in Minority Report with the dude's eye in a bag? I was hiding under my seat clutching my legs rocking back and forth waiting for them to carry me out of there and to a happier place.. And then I went to the eye doctor. The NURSE at the eye doctor told me to stop being a baby about the eyedrops she had put in to make my eyes dilate. And I was diagnosed with Ocular Migraines. Sweet. No tumors. There's really no treatment, it always subsides in about 20 minutes so just deal with it. Sounds good to me. Thanks Eye Doctor. I will never see you again unless someone drugs me and takes me here against my will. Have a Nice Day! And I promptly forgot about it.
Today it ocurred me to, since I had another ocular migraine on Monday, to google it and see what it says. Especially since a co-worker looked at me skeptically when I told him I had an ocular migraine. Like "Sure lady. You just don't want to read your email. That just sounds like something you made up." I found this website and was in awe. Thats exactly what I experience, and there's even pictures of what it looks like to me! How cool! I'm not a freak, or alone in the world! I didn't invent that trip to the doctor in my head, I really do have an honestly diagnosed problem!
So there you go folks. Hope you learned something new.
